Design, Fabrication and Manufacturing is undertaken at our purpose built 6300 sq meter factory facility in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. We also have an office in Sydney and internationally in Singapore and Philippines. To complement this we offer full logistics and deliveries.

DESIGN & COLLABORATION
MFB Metal offers a dedicated Design Centre. We run Autodesk Inventor and can create 3D models that allow checking for interference whilst maintaining utmost accuracy.
We have a robust design procedure within the ISO9001 framework. By actively working with clients, designs are developed and proposal drawings are created for review and possible further presentation. On agreement, designs continue on into the manufacturing phase with complete production drawings for in-house manufacture and sub contracting as required. We also supplement our Design process with full documentation and specification as required by ISO9001.
This process is managed via our Design Plan Checklist (DPC). This is a journey document that follows the manufacturing flow, demands accountability and ensures accuracy and attention to detail. This document is supplied with finished goods to our customers. MFB Metal will adopt customer specific QA requirements as well. This encourages our own business development and professionalism. Of course in a lot of cases customers supply their own drawings.
We use Autodesk Inventor which offers full compatibility with all file formats including IGES and STEP files. MFB Metal has a process of managing customer supplied drawings ensuring full confidentiality and security is always maintained.
MFB Metal is ISO9001 and we are bi-annually audited by BSI. Current QA certificates are available to download including our capability document and a sample DPC. We encourage factory acceptance testing (FAT’s) of manufactured parts and welcome customer auditing to ensure our systems and procedures are relevant and value add to the business relationship.
SHEET METAL MANUFACTURING
We offer two turret press systems both set up for ‘lights out’ automation ensuring reduced lead times and guaranteed accuracy. In fabricating we have 6 press brakes and two RAS Multibend centres, which is ideal for large panel bending, where folding accuracy is paramount.
Our expertise extends into light engineering services including bespoke tooling design and manufacture with both mill and lathe machining. We offer automated fastening via our Autosert inserting machine and corner forming of panels which is an effective alternative to welding using our innovative ACF corner forming machine.
A flat bed router provides precision drilling and machining for both batch items and prototypes. This machine accepts a variety of materials, not only steel and aluminium, but acrylic and wood.
Form in place gasket machine provides MFB with high rated seals in a continuous form, the machine also has the capability to produce a glue seal to IP66 for glass panels.
Full welding facilities in both MIG and TIG with expertise in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium. Our finishing includes a dual line powder coat conveyor system, ideal for batch processing with a full customer choice of colours. Our sub contracting includes but is not limited to anodizing, zinc plating, nickel and electroless nickel plating and galvanizing.
Assembly services include a variety of riveting systems such as Hemlock and Speed Rivet. We also have an electrical and wiring department, for low level wiring systems including loom and PCB. We also offer full wrapping and packaging services and we make our own wooden pallets – to size.
